I knew 1998 could not be when Jo started modeling...way too late.
But it took me a bit of investigation to ferret out WHEN.
I reviewed RFF's fine Illustrated set indexes that he publishes on usenet and the earliest shoot I see published was, and I quote:
BLAT

Blat also in MW0409, Model Directory 1103, Swank, Club France, 69[69207]
Permed shoulder-length hair, pearl necklace with pearl rosette, matching pearl belt with rosette, white satin lingerie and robe and stockings. On a white 1950s-style chair with curved wooden arms. Swank called her Sharon, as they did in Dana. Mens World called her Joanne Porter.
